Food and back to school are the two things on my mind this week.
Author Mem Fox has created a furor recently by declaring that putting infants in child care is tantamount to child abuse. Of course the comments received critical reaction from working mothers.

Isn’t it crazy the way babies grow so quickly? It seems that you just get used to one stage and boom they are already into another. Tonight, were busy getting the household all set for my eldest child’s first day of second grade. My two younger ones are excited and want to start school, too.
As we all watch the raging path of the hurricane, we are praying for the safety of those affected. It seems like there have been so much weather phenomena making an impact recently. And, now one authority is predicting that this winter will see extreme cold.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It’s an overused phrase, but rather fitting in regards to the latest announcement by the creators of “Dora the Explorer,” who insist it’s time to give the famous cartoon character a makeover.
Homeschoolers worry about laws that affect homeschoolers. We worry about what new legislators will do and how politicians will view them. We worry about school boards giving us a hard time. We worry about our freedom to parent. We vote based on these worries and concerns.
To succeed in homeschooling, it is in your best interest to get involved with other homeschoolers. You should join a homeschool network or group near you. For this reason, I have decided to give a full listing of homeschooling groups throughout each state.
We are just hours away from the start of the Labor Day holiday weekend–the official end of the summer season. For many families the weekend marks the last chance to escape city life before the new school year begins.
Using what you have in your pantry is important when food prices have risen so much. Creating meals from your pantry can reduce your weekly food budget or allow you to skip a shopping trip or two. It also prevents food waste.
You move a table or floor lamp and are left with circular dents in the carpet that seem to exist for days if not permanently. Carpet dents can ruin the look and feel of your carpet and can force you into a permanent furniture arrangement when you can’t get them out.
